Autumn Leaves and Pumpkins Please! A Virtual Family Discovery Day  - Free Activities for Children of All Ages! Preschool through Upper Elementary! This virtual event offers loads of fun, family-friendly activities to celebrate autumn/fall in the garden. All virtual events are hosted through the Bellefonte Community Children’s Garden Facebook page. You’re invited to make an autumn/fall sketchbook and hear all about why we love trees and why they change. Create a sun catcher. Make a mini dish with a leaf imprint in clay. Learn and name the tree parts. Design an apple place mat. Sing a pumpkin song while naming the parts of a pumpkin. Watch and learn all about the many varieties of pumpkins. Lots of fall/autumn videos to view and an “Autumn Leaves and Pumpkins Please” scavenger hunt. Once again, follow along and check out fun BCCG Facebook videos, including Laura Sarge from the Centre County Library reading a story about autumn and leaves. There will be kits for these activities available at the Centre County Library for pick-up twice per month. The Bellefonte Community Children’s Garden is supported by the Centre County Library, Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, and the Bellefonte Garden Club. Family Discovery Days are held each season.

Virtual Event AboutTop 24 Blue Feathered Chicken Breeds That You Will Absolutely Love  - Breeders have popularized some breeds of chicken more than others. It's an organic, market-based process that occurs over time. This is why you are likely to find certain breeds of fowl on backyard farms all over the place while other rarer types are only found in specialty hatcheries or by word of mouth. The breeds we will discuss here do not necessarily represent the most common breeds of chicken, but they are amongst some of the most popular and uncommonly seen (at least as far as pet chickens go). Attend the virtual event at on every sunday where we will talk in detail about animal husbandry and poultry farming.
