Fluidity Dance Company is a professional dance company for an aspiring young artist which is unique for the area of Central Pennsylvania. It was created during a time of adversity for the owner/artistic director, Jocelyn Labriola-Hrzic. Along with physical therapy, a path toward self-healing began. It was during that period, she felt it was time for a turning point in her career to take a leap and start a professional dance company. The idea for the name “Fluidity” came from a recommendation made . . . to live life with more joy and ease, to flow through life . . . Fluidity.

Fluidity Dance Company has been selected to compete at the Leo’s Competition being held at Jazz Dance World Congress. The event will take place July 22-25. Only 17 companies from around the world were chosen to compete. Companies will perform at the Harris Theatre in Millenium Park, Chicago, and be honored to open the evening’s event with other companies performing thereafter. The Giordamo Company, Lehrer Dance, Philadanco, Koresh Dance Company, Hubbard Street and others have also been invited and will be performing at this year’s event. One winner will be chosen on July 25 from the 17 companies invited.
Founder/Artistic Director, Jocelyn Labriola Hrzic, has attended this event in the past, and it was her dream to one day start a professional company and get selected to perform at this show. Fluidity Dance Company was formed in August 2008, and the Company members are excited to have been chosen to attend.
Fluidity Dance Company was selected in February to perform at Steps Performance Lab in New York City and also Project Dance in Times Square, New York City. The Company performed as well at the Grier (School) Gala Performance in April. Jocelyn is the creator/artistic director of the Grier Gala event. Professional companies attended and taught master classes as well as performed for all participating students. Dance schools from the area were invited to participate. Performing companies were Lehrer Dance Company, Synthesis Dance Project, Dance Theatre of Pittsburgh, Houston Met, Jason Parsons and Fluidity Dance Company. Next year’s Grier Gala Performance is set for April 9-10, 2010.
