One of the scheduled speakers is Carol Poenisch, whose mother, Merian Frederick, stricken with Lou Gehrig’s disease, died of carbon monoxide poisoning in 1993 with the help of Dr. Jack Kevorkian.
Other speakers are Greg Lewis, a physician in Carlisle and former adjunct faculty of Dickinson College; and Linda Smith, who has 39 years of nursing experience, much of it in end-of-life issues.
The moderator will be James Hoefler, political science professor at Dickinson College and author of “Managing Death” (1997, WestviewPress), which examines the medical, legal, ethical and clinical aspects of right-to-die issues.
