Ifeoma U. Anyaeji, artist. Noted artist Ifeoma U. Anyaeji draws on Nigerian hair plaiting (threading) and traditional basketry and fabric weaving techniques as she imbues mundane materials with surprising significance and intricate design. Anyaeji will discuss her non-conventional “Plasto-yarning” technique, a neo-traditional, transitional methodology for discarded non-biodegradable plastic. Co-sponsored by the African Studies Program; African Feminist Initiative; Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Rock Ethics Institute; Department of Art History; and the Friends of the Palmer Museum of Art.
